Davis Fetter - Born

He's back with a great new video and dare I add a slightly edgier subject matter....

I have gushed about Davis Fetter before (no seriously, I have- search his name in the search bar at the top of this page and see how many times I have posted about him) but every time I do it is because he rocks it.   My pet peeve with music (besides most things country, although Nashville is slowly winning me over) is that while an artist can sound utterly fantastic on an album- reality check hits ya when you hear them live.   There's nothing wrong with studio magic in my book.   It's an art form, like any other.   But when an artist can move you both on an album and in a live show.... that's just the perfect storm.

And so it is with this artist- Davis just blows me away every time I watch him get up in front of a microphone.   If you haven't taken the time to listen to his stuff yet, you suck.   Go do it.   I'll wait here...
I really won't, but I will post a new video of his latest single "Born" and highly suggest you peruse my archives and start catching up on why I love him so much.

Fine... here are the links.   Lazy bums.

In Loving Memory - Danny M

As most of you know, my Boss, friend, work husband and big brother passed away.   The devastating events have left the staff, clients, friends and family reeling.   Not only was Danny the sweetest, kindest, most loving person you could ever hope to meet- he added a sparkle to any situation, made everyone feel loved and welcome and most of all, he genuinely cared for everyone in his life.

I wasn't going to write this post.   I wasn't going to write anything at all, just let everyone else do the talking as word got out and people reacted.  Then I saw the video from the annual holiday party and reality finally started to set it.   I will miss Danny so much- he had no idea how much I cared  about him and his baby- the salon.   I never got the chance to sit down and explain why I would rather work there and come in seven days a week than take some other job in an industry I had actual experience in.   I am so grateful he took a chance and let me join his team!   Simply said- the Lab became my home and I was happiest spending every moment there.   To all of the people I have met - thank you.   I know you all cared and loved him and he would spend hours telling me stories about all of you and what his plans were for the future.   We had a lot of big things planned for this year and it breaks my heart that none if it will ever happen now.   My second family has been shattered and I miss it already, beyond words.

As I sit here trying to formulate the thoughts I want to share, all of these tiny moments are flashing through my head.   I was not there for years like many of you- but the short time I spent at the salon made such a huge impact across every facet of my life.   I catch myself looking at pedestrians and thinking "Wow, they need a haircut, I should talk to them and bring them in, we can fix that".   When I see products I compare them to what we sold and think about ways to market differently.   The song in the video came on yesterday, before I saw the video and I started to cry- the lyrics hit it home.   My favorite time of the day was the first thirty minutes before anyone else got there and I could turn up the music as loud as I wanted to and dance away while prepping everything for the day to come.   A few times Danny rolled up as I was bopping away and he'd stand there laughing and waiting for me to notice.   He finally learned my name was not Chloe.   So many tiny moments, such a giant effect on me.

We lost him too soon.   I miss you Danny, every day.

I don't know who these kids are but I saw this video on facebook and had to share it... was going to just tweet it but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to.   So, instead, I am actually sitting down and writing up a (very short) blog post for it because it is really that good and I figured out that I can embed it...

It was posted on Dylan Jones facebook- so I guess hit him up if you want more information?   And if you do get more info, please let me know.
My caption when I shared it on my page was: The brother can't stop grinning bc he knows how good they are, meanwhile Casper is all emo awesome. Damn. All sorts of talent right there...

PLNDR and Greg Selkoe made my year

Shortly before Christmas I randomly tweeted something in response to Greg Selkoe (about a gorgeous rose gold watch that ironically enough I didn't end up buying) and as a result I won a phenomenal gift certificate to blow on loot from PLNDR. If you aren't familiar with them, PLNDR is a cool, hip, current website with great deals on trendy fashion. I actually sweated over placing my order, trying to figure out what to buy and getting anxious when I'd see items I wanted selling out before I could make up my mind. Anyway... I finally placed the order and today it got delivered yayyyyy! I raced home from work and my heart sank when I saw the ups notice on my door- but I remembered seeing the truck on the street so I ran outside and thank the fashion gods, I was able to get my giant box from the driver. It's been a long time since I made a self video, and yeah I kinda rushed it (no edits, used iPhone camera blah blah whatever) but here ya go... I present: Chani's Belated Christmas a la PLNDR. I will sleep happily tonight knowing I won't possibly be able to pick an outfit tomorrow. But whatever I end up wearing, you know it will look good. Besos lovers. Thank you Greg!
