Keri Hilson - One Night Stand feat. Chris Brown (video)

I just watched the video for Keri Hilson's song and my first reaction to it was 'Oh Chris, I wish you had dyed your hair back before making this video".   But then I started paying attention to the song and visuals and actually, I really like it.   Side note and fodder for possible second post- I watched Dancing with the Stars late last night and saw Chris's two performances "Yeah 3x" "Forever" and I gotta say, huge thumbs up...especially since my esp must be working and he read my mind and dyed his hair back for it!

Anyway, so I am a little bit obsessed with Keri Hilson these days.   Her songs seem to be talking to me, about me, for me...and she is pretty too look at, dances well and has a pleasant voice.   A few things caught my attention watching the video.   At 2:20 ish Chris makes this awkward shoulder move and angry face that I replayed a few times- again, director's job to flatter his subjects but funny anyway.   Moving on, I really enjoyed the part where they were both in black (starts at 2:50 ish and again at 3:20 in trench coats maybe, I have to rewatch) and danced in sync.   Very cool, and reminiscent of Janet Jackson somehow.  I thought the awkward move at 3:13 where she had her foot up on the pole in the workshop and bent over and he was sort of standing behind her was...awkward.   Odd since both are so talented with regard to their dancing.   I blame the director for not making it a flattering angle.   Finally, just a girl's point of view- as hot as cars can be, no girl wants to get down in a workshop.   Think of the dirty cold concrete floor, the grease, the machinery...I mean, just no.   Having said that, it was as hot as possible given the setting- take a look and tell me what you think...

The Band Perry - If I Die Young (video)

A friend suggested I listen to this song and I have to say while I would never have listened to it on my own it was surprisingly pretty.   I don't usually go for these types of twangy ballads, unless they are extremely pop-oriented (I apologize, country tends to get on my nerves, no hate just being honest).   The video is very pretty too, which is nice and I really enjoy the soft, smokey voice mixed with the instruments.
Let me know what you think...and feel free to leave suggestions for me to listen to and review!

Western Lights came out in 2009, and with the power of my fans it received over 70,000 downloads and that was without a record label behind me. It was the sheer determination and support of fans that I now call friends.
Things are falling into place again since the amazing US based writer producer multi-instrumentalist Benjamin ‘beatzy’ Thomas (Carly Simon, David Bowie, James Taylor, Mica Paris, Ben Taylor, Newton Faulkner) joined the team a few months ago. We have started pre-production on my first solo album. My dream is beginning to take shape in reality and I owe everything to those who have supported me from the beginning and who believe in me now. I have the passion and the burning desire to make it and I would love for you to become a part of this amazing adventure.
