Sean Roxs - Waiting on Yesterday (video)

I can't explain why these young ones get to me, maybe it's the hopeful look in their eyes, the fresh energy they attack the songs with, the untainted optimism of youth....I like this song, although I think I would VERY quickly tire of hearing it replayed a million times on the radio.   BUT before you roast me for being mean, imagine if he were given a good song to sing- he's got the looks, personality, vocals (ish)....right?!?    He's talent in the rough....and I like his name.

Gregory Gorgeous- Montage Video and Contest

One of my new favorite YouTubers is Greg Gorgeous (I made a smaller post about him earlier).

He is super funny, and I am extremely impressed at his makeup skills and ability to walk in high heels.   Seriously, I am a girl and I have issues sometimes!   I was trying to figure out how to post a few of his best videos and he went and did the work for me by making a montage video!   It isn't really about makeup, but it shows his humor and gives you a sense of what he's like.   If you are an eyeshadow or foundation nut, definitely check out his tutorials (Thank you Greg!   I FINALLY got the eyelashes on right!!!!).

Also, he is having a contest to win a t-shirt and signed letter from him- I think that's awesome and hope I win, but if I don't win, hopefully one of my readers can...so check him out and leave a comment.

You can also check out his show called 'The Avenue'.   Like 'The Hills' but in Toronto.

Anne Hathaway, James Franco Clip from Oscars (funny video)

I think they looked funny, from what I saw....

Did James Franco Bail on His Own After Party?

Yup.

I'll cut right to the chase.   He's awesome.   He had a huge party planned around his name and he worked so hard at the Oscars he had to skip it to get back to class.

See:

But seriosuly-

One of the more hyped Oscar parties of the week was to be James Franco's after-after party at Supper Club.
"People are going to be bailing on Madonna's party for James'," one of the people connected with the party told me early in the week. "We're already arranging blockades across the street, because we're expecting so many celebrities, that even at 4 a.m. we're expecting a crowd of people lined up to watch people arrive."
Or not.
For starters, it appears that Franco himself didn't even make it to the party. A source at the party referred queries to Franco's Twitter, which showed aphoto of a plane, with "time to get back to class" scrawled across it.
"He isn't much of a partier, he doesn't drink," said one source. "It was more about launching his bar, The Writer's Room, which is part of Supper Club."
Even so, the bash wasn't the star-studded occasion people hoped. Kevin Spacey and Seth Rogan were there -- not exactly star wattage to warrant those barriers the event planners ordered up.

Lady Gaga - Born This Way Video Recap and Pictures

I had to watch it before I commented but I wanted to get the video out there so I posted it just prior to this post- I will re-add it at the end of my recap/review.

It's weird, kooky, disturbing- and 7 something minutes long.   2:33 in and I am still hearing her narrate about Mother Monster giving birth and watching slimy Gaga heads coming from her womb (anyone else have a 'Will the Real Slim Shady Please Stand Up deja vu moment there?).   Then with the birth of evil and her 'splitting in two'.   DUDE.   She is literally pulling spears from her hoo-ha.   And the 'Zombie Boy' from her Thierry Mugler collaboration is there too.   THE SONG HASN'T STARTED YET but this is NOT what I was envisioning!
EVERYONE please stop making LONG MUSIC VIDEOS.

At 2:45 it finally starts.   She looks so skinny in the bikini.   And it's weird to see her barefoot, no ten inch heels.   I like the dancing, here makeup is shiny but pretty, the subdermal facial implant makeup is definitely different.   I don't like the third eyeball attached to Mother Monster's chin- it is creeping me out.

Wow- she looks oddly amazing as Zombie Boys' twin sister!   Ok- instead of trying to describe it I took pictures with my iPhone and made a video and am posting some of the stills:
This one reminds me of the Eminem factory

She's splitting in two and giving birth to evil

I like these last few- looks like hair on fire

then lit up boots (reminds me of Michael Jackson)

lit up gloves

Pose.

Madonna

Billboard already put out a review:

Lady Gaga premiered her highly-anticipated video for "Born This Way," the first single from her May 23 album of the same name, today (Feb. 28) at 11 am EST.

Clocking in at nearly seven and a half minutes, "Born This Way" is more of a high-fashion short film than a conventional music video. As the clip opens, Gaga declares, "This is the manifesto of Mother Monster."

She continues, describing the race she births as one "which bears no prejudice, no judgement, but boundless freedom." Gaga's opening narration sets the clip up as a battle between good and evil, with herself at the literal center of the fight.

The sci-fi-inspired video was directed by Gaga, alongside her longtime choreographer Laurieann Gibson and fashion photographer Nick Knight. In a nod to French fashion house Thierry Mugler, which now boasts Gaga's own stylist Nicola Formichetti as its creative director, the Mother Monster is shown with the label's newest muse, "Zombie Boy." Gaga is dressed and inked skeleton-style to match the highly-tattooed model, whom she dances and flirts with throughout the "Born This Way" video. "Zombie Boy," whose real name is Rick Genest, also appeared in a recent short film for Theirry Mugler, which featured an exclusive Gaga remix.

In addition to inspiration from Mugler, similarities to classic Madonnavideos, most specifically "Vogue" and "Borderline," can be found within the "Born This Way" clip. These Madonna references join a growing list of comparisons being made between the pop icon and Gaga's "Born This Way," which many claim sounds much like Madonna's "Express Yourself."

"Born This Way" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 two weeks ago, making it the 1,000th song to top the chart in its over 52-year history. G told Billboard.com that the milestone is "a tremendous honor," and in Billboard's "Born This Way" cover story, she dished on the entire album.

"It's quite eclectic," said Gaga. "It ranges from 'Born This Way' being very light to the rest of the album becoming quite darker. I in jest say that 'Born This Way' is the marijuana to the heroins of the album, the ultimate intense intoxication of the record. It's an analogy."

Oscar Fashion Recap - Part 2

What is with Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett?   Not a fan of the embroidered doiley thing....although Cate's is prettier.
Nicole KidmanCate Blanchett

Gwyneth, you look beautiful as usual, but that's the problem-it looks USUAL
Gwyneth Paltrow

Thank you Helena Bonham Carter for always being different:
Helena Bonham Carter

NO MARISA.   No No No.   No.
Marisa Tomei

Melissa Leo looks pretty, but Victoria Beckham already wore this- and slightly (a lot) better:
Melissa Leo

Busy Phillips. I like her name.  And she is funny on Cougar Town (when I used to watch it).   Dress, not as much but her face looks beautiful!
Busy Philipps

For more dresses and looks-go to MTV's recap here too- (i'm tired of recapping)

The last couple of months have had no shortage of awards shows, but they were all a lead-up to the biggest night of them all: the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. We had been looking forward to the Oscars for awhile now, not only because we wanted to find out which films would win, but because it's the night celebs don their very best on the red carpet. That means the gowns are more dramatic, the jewelry is more expensive (at least we'd like to think so!) and the hairstyles are even more sky-high (hello, Reese's ponytail!).
Luckily, we weren't disappointed. Rodarte, Marchesa and Chanel were all in attendance and they all looked phenomenal (to be fair, so did the actresses who were them!). While the designers varied, the trends were pretty noticeable. The carpet was flooded with sequins that left us dazzled, lace that showed just the right amount of skin and lots of nude and lipstick red dresses!
Keep reading to find out who made the cut on our best dressed list for Oscars 2011!

If Natalie Portman is vying for the best-dressed mommy-to-be, she definitely has our vote. Natalie arrived in a deep purple gown by Rodarte which she paired with Tiffany jewels. The dress was perfect, and the hair (she parted most of it to one-side) was just as great. Of course, co-star Mila Kunis was nothing short of stunning herself in a breathtakingly beautiful lavender dress by Elie Saab. We loved the lace detail, her loose bun and eye-catching earrings.

Red was a major trend on the carpet last night, and few pulled off the color as well as Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway. Jennifer arrived in a form-fitting, bright red Calvin Klein Collection dress, while Oscar hostess Anne opted for a strapless gown which she paired with one seriously eye-catching diamond necklace.

Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz also went with red for the big night, albeit in much darker shades. Scarlett looked absolutely intense in a Dolce&Gabbana dress that featured touches of lace and an open back. The one thing we would have done differently was the hair. We would have liked to see it in a clean up-do, instead of loose and fringy. Penelope was another conversation starter, in a gorgeous sequined gown that showed off her post-baby curves.

Last week's Style SuperstarHalle Berry, ruled the red carpet yet again at the Academy Awards. Halle arrived in a dreamy, strapless, nude gown by Marchesa that left us (and many others we're sure) completely dazzled. The form-fitting gown, which featured flared tulle at the bottom, was perfect from head-to-toe. Also in nude Marchesa was "True Grit" star Hailee Steinfeld. The young actress might be a newcomer to these red carpets, but she certainly left her mark in a strapless dress (that she helped design), which she accented with a headband (too cute!).

When it comes to understated elegance, no one does it like Michelle Williams. The "Blue Valentine" star proved she's a master at simplicity when she arrived in a white, sequined gown by Chanel that left us drooling. Reese Witherspoon also kept it relatively low-key, in a black strapless dress with a white border that many said was reminiscent of Julia Roberts' 2001 Oscar dress. While we loved the look, we've got to say our favorite part of Reese's look was her 'do, which seemed like it was straight out of "Legally Blonde" (only our favorite movie ever!).

Oscar Fashion Recap - Part 1

I didn't watch or have anything to do with the Oscars this year at all besides following James Franco on twitter.   Mostly because I was busy but also, without a tv it just sort of sucks to follow it via twitter and blogs.
Fear not!   The lovely people of the interweb have inundated us with everything Oscar related and my afvorite part, the fashion, is especially well covered....

To begin with, Us Weekly
Poor Anne Hathaway!   I saw Sandra Bullocks dress first, and then hers and because of that hers is somehow less glamorous (which sucks since she was a host!)
Anne HathawaySandra Bullock
Someone posted a funny comment though, about Sandra's dress, guess not every is a fan:
Why is she wearing the same dress Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman? Did she forget the famous necklace scene?

Mila Kunis looked great, but I am not a huge fan of the color, maybe if it were more of a creamy tone, or go much darker?   I liked the top though, not as big of a fan of the lacey skirt
Mila Kunis

I guess a lot of people wanted red.   Who is Jennifer Lawrence?   This is like is Pam Anderson made her Baywatch bikini into a dress.   I wish she had worn something more glamorous but again, I don't know who she is so....
Jennifer Lawrence

Michelle Williams looks amazing, but I am sort of tired of this pixie look on her, BUT SHE LOOKS GREAT
Michelle Williams

Hailee Steinfeld- WOW- wonderful full Oscar appearance!   I would wear this dress as a wedding dress if I did it again- I am not kidding.   I love it and cute shoes. (Dress by Marchesa)
Hailee Steinfeld

Aimee Adams reminds me of the wholesome Jessica Rabbit here, I cannot even explain why:
Amy Adams

LOVE Mandy Moore's dress, not hair/makeup- dress is stunning though and I see Halle Berry went for the same idea: Mandy's is a Monique Lhuillier and Halle's is by Marchesa.
Mandy MooreHalle Berry

Oh Scarlet.   We know you just got divorced, but how did you turn cougar so FAST?   This looks cheap and you usually look like a million bucks.
Scarlett Johansson

Jennifer Hudson is so skinny now, and again, red:
Jennifer Hudson

WELCOME BACK CELINE DION!
I have missed you and you look fanstastic!   Fabric is a bit stiff (wish there was more movement in the skirt) but you look FANTASTIC!

I have so much more....keep reading...

Nine - the movie (Sorry Daniel Day-Lewis)

I just finished watching the movie 'Nine'.   Thanks to Netflix I am ever so slowly catching up on all of the movies I haven't seen in the last three years (partly due to my neurosis regarding bedbugs in movie theaters and also because I have discovered watching anything in bed is much more enjoyable than in public).   Anyhoo, so I saw the preview for Nine eons ago and then when the movie came out it had a loud bang and sort of fizzled out.   Considering the cast, which I will get to in a moment, I really could not understand how the movie tanked.   And now I have watched it and I understand completely.
Nine Poster
Is it even necessary to add a spoiler alert heading when the movie is a few years old?   Oh well, spoiler....
The movie had no plot.   I mean, it did, but it went absolutely fucking nowhere.   It went in circles, around greats like Dame Judi Dench, Sophia Loren and Daniel Day-Lewis.   Yes, my Daniel Day-Lewis- LEGEND of everything I loved in movies and love in movie stars.   I can't list everything but here are the ones that I can name off the top of my head- Last of the Mohican's, The Crucible, Gangs of New York, Gandhi...I mean, he is incredible.   To watch him in this with these movie vixens all fighting for his attention, that is believable...but there was no progression- it was singing, dancing, 'Hey Guido' and eye liner...but nothing beyond that for me. Fergie was an odd cast member because she just isn't as good as um, say, Nicole Kidman.   There was a lot of sparkle and big hair and undergarments, but this was such a boring movie for me (AND I LIKE MUSICALS) I actually played Original Ganstaz on my phone through a lot of it  (what, we were in a war).   Penelope Cruz did have an amazing song and dance routine that was absolutely awash in sexual aggression and absolutely teased the viewers- loved it when she did that sliding down the banister thing.

Here is the IMDB Synopsis:
Nine tells the story of Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis), a world famous film director as he confronts an epic mid-life crisis with both creative and personal problems. He must balance the many women of his life, including his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penelope Cruz), his film star muse (Nicole Kidman), his confidant and costume designer (Judi Dench), an American fashion journalist (Kate Hudson), the whore from his youth (Fergie) and his mother (Sophia Loren).

The original 1982 Broadway production of NINE, with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston, won five Tony Awards including Best Musical.

Rob Marshall's "Chicago" won 6 Academy Awards. This film is Rob's latest foray into the world of Hollywood and perhaps his best to date. Based on the Fellini film 8 1/2 (which describes the number of films Guido has directed to date... he co-directed one for the 1/2)... this version simply is magical as it transforms reality into fantasy. Marshall is incredibly gifted in his wonderful choreography and the musical numbers are magical. Marshall himself said the most difficult part of translating a show into a film is that you have to weave the singing and dancing in seamlessly. It is breathtaking to watch that achievement in this musical on the screen. Marshall's use of black and white versus color and back are well conceived and executed tastefully. You never ask yourself why they are now singing and dancing. You sit back and watch the dance numbers take shape in what is now bigger than life. The sand number in particular was spectacular and you wonder how the dancers ever could get through the number with the sand swirling around the set. This is simply a wonderfully conceived musical which will take you into the mind of the "maestro" director Guido and transport you into a wonderful state of mind for nearly two hours. To have Dame Judy Dench, Penelope Cruz, Fergie, Kate Hudson (yes, she can sing and dance), Nicole Kidman, the still beautiful Sophia Loren (so they used filters!), and Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard, in one cast is a visual treat. Each and every one of the ladies adds to Guido's enigma... and how to put the pieces back together so he can direct yet another movie is what keeps this movie so enticing. Really brilliant job by Rob Marshall who shares the praise with the late Anthony Minghella, who Marshall said handed him the script just before Minghella entered the hospital. Marshall is effusive in his praise of Minghella's contribution to this movie.

Meet Rob Pattinson, Kristen's Stewart's Twilight Love Child

After reading the books I wondered how they'd portray Renesmee, the daughter of Bella and Edward...

If Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart actually mated...
It might look like Mackenzie Foy!
The 10-year-old actress recently landed one of the most coveted kid roles in Hollywood: She will play Renesmee, the half-human, half-vampire child of Edward (Pattinson) and Bella (Stewart) in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2. An evocative new photo (not taken on set) gives fans a look at the newcomer, who has appeared on TV shows like Hawaii Five-O and FlashForward.
