Anthony Weiner (NY Democratic Rep) Passionate Ideas RE: 911 Responder Health Care

Watching this I had a momentary wish that this man goes on to become President.   I know a lot of his politics from reading about him in the newspaper but anyone who will stand up and scream vehemently about following rules and voting for what's right the way he does seems like a great representative to me.   To be clear, since I only have a short clip I am not certain what exactly the vote is about- I think it is about providing health care for the 911 responders (many of whom subsequently got very sick).   Thoughts?

Only in New Jersey....

I was having a bad day and for some reason seeing this post gave me such a case of the giggles- completely turned my mood around.

I think in some part of my mind I have an image of two very old, scruffy, molting peacocks with bedraggled tail feathers in hospital beds sighing and saying something like 'They looked like food!'.

Happy Friday!

LITERALLY movie trailer- Harry Potter

Another youtube gem that has been passed my way is this guy- he does trailers LITERALLY...

Brilliant- and oddly hilarious.

Mystery Guitar Man - Kazoos

There are so many videos I don't even know where to start with this Mystery Guitar Man as he calls himself on youtube- but he is an amazing musician (and has a great editor!)

I totally want one of his t-shirts!

Check it out-

Baby You Can Drive My Car

The Jonas Brothers did a cover of the Beatles 'Baby You Can Drive My Car' at the White House- actual song is at 3:50 ....side note, I just learned this song courtesy of Rock Band :)   I found it hilarious that Jerry Seinfeld was kind of alleviating his nerves by telling the boys it was the biggest day of his life too.   And during the performance Stevie Wonder was singing along, so cute.

Lady Gaga and Damien Walters....awesome

I can't claim I found this on my own, I stumbled across it after a fb friend commented about it on someone else's wall....but I watched it because I know a little about parkour and was interested in seeing what the guy could do- WOW.   There are a ton of comments on the youtube page that say it's not legit but the way I see it, since I trip walking down the stairs in sneakers, he's got skills!   And I am loving the Lady G remix :)   It's called 'Surrender the Dancefloor' and I would totally play it in my car during a long drive!

Star Wars on the 6 Train

This is one of the funniest live acts I have seen in a while- and since I ride this train when I am in the city, it has personal significance....I just wish they'd chosen a seen with Luke or Han in it!

You can read the behind the scenes here:

There is also a video of the outtakes:

Pink suspension accident OUCH

Pink does this INCREDIBLE act in her live shows where she is hooked into a harness and soars over the crowds at her concerts while flipping upside down and doing acrobatics AND singing live.   It is pretty wicked cool.   Yesterday she was starting her song 'So What' at a show in Nurenburg and the harness got messed up and slingshot her into a steel girder.   Ouch.   Trooper that she is she got up onstage after and continued the show but went to the hospital to get checked out- she has bad bruising but will be ok.

Embedding disabled but you can watch it directly on youtube here

I am Not a Robot (live)

I haven't posted a new video from Marina and the Diamonds recently, so since she was just on the Craig Ferguson show, I posted her great live performance- she is so amazing live (one of the signs of a phenomenal talent).

So the Lakers are good huh?

According to Dwyane Wade, the Lakers are the team to beat.  He also somehow includes a sound bite about Obama!   Why on earth was this article even published?    Because we all needed him to confirm what we already knew?   Slow news day?   (You can only listen to so many Mel Gibson rants before you start to get bored).   Anyway, so yeah, he is setting teh groundwork for an attempt at making next season a Laker/Heat rivalry.   Whatever.    As long as Fisher stays and I get to go to a few Laker games at Staples next year, I don't actually care who says what.   Lakers are gonna make it regardless!

‘The Lakers are the champions and we know the Lakers are very good’
The Associated Press
updated 1:28 p.m. ET, Wed., July 14, 2010
DORAL, Fla. - Dwyane Wade looked at the flag, took his stance and slowly pulled back his 5-iron.
He whiffed. Twice.
"No time to practice my golf," Wade said.
That'll soon change. With his free agency settled, with LeBron James and Chris Bosh now along for the ride and with the Miami Heat roster slowly taking shape, Wade is looking forward to finally getting some downtime this summer - knowing that a training camp unlike any other starts in about two months.
Touching on a variety of topics, Wade seemed as relaxed and content as he's been in weeks on Wednesday when he and Alonzo Mourning co-hosted a charity golf event to start their five-day series of fundraising activities known as the Summer Groove. Wade posed for photos, chatted with those who paid $1,000 to play, even wolfed down a hamburger under a canopy with fans during a rain delay.
"The hard part," Wade said, "is out of the way."
No explanation necessary. The hardest parts of Wade's summer are all behind him now. He has a $107 million, six-year contract after giving back some money to accommodate the acquisitions of James, Bosh and Udonis Haslem, his close friend and teammate for the past seven seasons. He settled four civil lawsuits from failed business deals, finalized a divorce and is spending time with his kids.
It's all about looking ahead now, Wade insisted.
A little more than a week ago, some sports books in Las Vegas had Miami listed as a 20-1 shot to win the 2011 NBA title. The Heat are now about an 8-5 betting choice, now that James, Bosh and Wade - three of the NBA's top nine scorers last season - will be together for presumably years to come.
"It still seems surreal," Wade said. "Walking down the hallway when we were on our way to do the congratulations, the 'Yes. We. Did.' event, looking to my life and my right, I'm like, 'this is awesome.' It took me back to All-Star Game. It's not real. And we're laughing, like we can't believe that we're playing together. It just happened and it was the best thing for all of us to do."
By "all of us," he didn't just mean the Big 3, either.
Wade credited James with successfully recruiting center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, who announced Tuesday that he'll leave Cleveland after more than a decade and sign with the Heat this week. Plus, Wade expects free agent sharpshooter Mike Miller, who made 48 percent of his 3-pointers last season, to sign in the coming days. Miller agreed in principle several days ago to a deal that remains unsigned.
Haslem is coming back at a discount as well, and several players have contacted Wade to see if the Heat has space for them on the roster.
"Trust me, I get a lot of messages from a lot of different guys that want to be a part of this," Wade said. "But it's about putting the right guys in the right situation. Everyone might not have the personality to deal with this. It's got to be the right mix. The locker room has to be right. We've got to be patient to build this team."
Wade also spoke out on criticism from some people around the league - his friend Charles Barkley was cited in particular - about why his teaming up with James and Bosh might not be a good thing.
Barkley said last week on NBA TV that the 25-year-old James would be better served by trying to win a championship with Cleveland.
"They got three terrific players," Barkley said. "I was disappointed. I wanted LeBron to stay in Cleveland, to be honest with you. I don't blame the guy. But I think it would be a lot more important and significant to win a championship in Cleveland than it would be in Miami, if he wins it. ... LeBron is never going to be the guy."
Countered Wade: "When he got older, he tried to team up with (Scottie) Pippen and (Hakeem) Olajuwon. Why wait until you're old when you have nothing left in the tank? ... There's just a lot of misconceptions out there about how much talent it takes to win a championship. It's takes at least two, it takes three to really be a dynasty. That's what we want to be."
To become a dynasty, the Heat will have to win not just one title, but a bunch of them.
And even after all the moves Miami has made, Wade says the Heat shouldn't be the favorites to win it all next June.
"The Lakers are the champions and we know the Lakers are very good," Wade said. "That's the team that everyone's shooting for and they should be. Not the Miami Heat. The Los Angeles Lakers."
Once the Groove ends with a charity basketball game on Sunday, Wade has some other commitments to tend to, then wants to get a much-deserved rest.
He, James and Bosh won't start practice together for real until late September when camp opens. Much of the two-plus months between now and then will be about resting and relaxing, knowing that the pressure-cooker will await once the season finally arrives.
"It's still basketball," Wade said. "We're going to have fun. We're still young men. We can't put the pressure on ourselves like we've got to run the country. We're not Barack Obama. We don't have that pressure."

NYC Girls....please don't let this be a trend

Kat Deluna made a song called 'NYC Girls' to answer Katy Perry's song 'California Gurls'.   It is absolutely awful- and she also talks about Jersey Girls...seriously, such a bad song.   Plus, any real NYC Girl DOES NOT get lumped into the same song as a Jersey Girl YEESH!

Derek Fisher + Miami Heat = ME VERY UPSET

I am so angry right now.   First Lebron sells out for a paycheck and goes to Miami...now they Heat are trying to steal Derek Fisher too!   I know, everyone in LA takes him for granted and he is not getting younger so he wants to cash in while he can, I don't blame him.   But he can't leave!   He is the Janitor!   He keeps the Lakers a unified team and cleans up after they get sloppy and shoots random three pointers to carry it into overtime...Kobe Bryant is the superstar but without Fisher it'd be a one man show- those don't even do well on Broadway!

So, please Lakers- write him a bigger check and keep him with his team- the team he has helped win so many Championships.   Drop Odom or something- he is all distracted with Khloe Kardashian and filming reality TV shows anyway...

Heat meet with Derek Fisher
AP Sports Writer

MIAMI - Derek Fisher might be why Miami's new trio of superstars left money on the table.
Fisher met Saturday with Heat president Pat Riley, one day after the team lavishly introduced LeBron James and Chris Bosh as Dwyane Wade's newest teammates. James, Bosh and Wade all will make less than the $16.6 million they could have commanded next season, giving Miami the chance to lure other players.   Riley declined comment Saturday.

Fisher has been part of all five Los Angeles Lakers championships in the Kobe Bryant era. After the Lakers won their second straight title last month, Fisher said he would return to Los Angeles, and Bryant insisted he wouldn't allow Fisher to play anywhere else.   But after Fisher reportedly received a $2.5 million offer for next season from Los Angeles, he listened to other possibilities, including the chance to play in Miami, which had enough cap room to not only keep Wade and add James and Bosh, but could lure a slew of other talented players as well.
"It's about sacrifice now," Wade said.   James, Bosh and Wade all signed six-year contracts. The value of James and Bosh's deals is nearly $111 million, while Wade took around $107 million. They could have received about $125.5 million apiece if they had taken the maximum value allowed under the current collective bargaining agreement.   "What we signed for is not important," James said Friday night at Miami's welcome celebration. "One thing that is important is we all sacrificed money, sacrificed a lot of things to be a part of this. But what we signed for is not important. What we're going to do this coming fall is what's most important."
Fisher averaged 7.5 points and 2.5 assists while starting all 82 regular-season games last season. In the playoffs, he averaged 10.3 points and 2.8 assists, again the starter for all 23 postseason contests.
Wade, James and Bosh all have given names to Riley of various players they would like to see join the Heat. Miami is closing in on a deal with Mike Miller and expects to keep Udonis Haslem, who has more lucrative offers from other clubs but wants to remain in South Florida — his lifelong home.   "He's been a part of this with me for seven years. ... We want Udonis back and we're going to do everything we can to make sure Udonis stays home," Wade said Friday night.   Riley said Friday that there "might be some good news" about Haslem's status with the Heat in the coming days.   Nonetheless, now with only four players — James, Wade, Bosh and Mario Chalmers — under contract, the work continues to fill out Miami's roster.   The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Saturday that Miami has had contact with forward Juwan Howard. Other free agents who are known to have expressed interest in Miami include Raja Bell, Chris Quinn, Quentin Richardson and Jamaal Magloire, and the Heat still have the rights to restricted center Joel Anthony.   Dorell Wright is moving on, however. The swingman who spent his first six seasons in Miami agreed in principle to a three-year deal Saturday with Golden State, returning to his native California.   Wade said after Miami's season ended in May that he hoped Wright — one of his closest friends — would return to Miami. But on his Twitter feed late Saturday night, Wade offered congratulations, saying "I'm a proud big bro."

Amazing dance routine- wow.

Too bad I have vertigo and get dizzy just looking down a staircase...this dance is so amazing.   I was impressed with the first flip at the 1 minute mark...then I saw the rest of it.   Phenomenal.

My happiest wish has come true- Glee is having a Britney Spears episode.   I didn't actually need an entire episode, since she was funny on How I met Your Mother I know she can guest star...but this is good too- and I want them to perform 'I Need You' because it is such a beautiful song.   However, can't you just see Rachel standing in her bedroom, staring out the window singing earnestly into her hairbrush "I'm not a girl...not yet a woman..."   And they could do an anti violence storyline where someone sings 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' and then the jocks get arrested...as I wrote that I got bored with the idea, sorry.   Thanks Ryan Murphy- you have made this 80's classic rock but def loves all things Pop girl VERY happy!

Lindsay Lohan Court Video

Lindsay Lohan was sentenced to serve 90 days in jail and 90 days in rehab (not to run concurrently) and there is video of her begging the Judge to be lenient.   I think the lifestyle young stars like her end up living really twists their priorities and their perception of 'normal' so while it is her fault that she is in so much trouble, I see her as a very sad, sick girl who is unfortunate that she really doesn't have a good support program (family).   It's just an all around bad situation- no matter what treatment she received she would be slammed as getting preferential treatment or unduly harsh treatment due to her celebrity status.   I do wish she hadn't had the words 'F*** U' on her middle nail, because it just gives everyone more fuel to gossip about how she doesn't take this seriously.   She shouldn't get a pat on the back for complying with her program, but at the same time within her abilities and twisted outlook it seems she did sort of try to comply completely.  The prosecutor obviously has it out for her (as most prosecutors would given that these high profile cases are career makers that enable them to command very high paychecks and corner offices once they leave public office and go into the private sector).   She'll be ok, if she can get through her sentences without more drama, but she really is alone in handling this at the end of the day so she will probably encounter some issues along the way.   You can watch the video of her explaining it to the Judge here   and then her reaction as she gets sentences here.

Warehouse 13

Yay!   Warehouse 13 is back!   I watched the first season last summer and adored this show- but I have to admit it seemed like I was the only person watching it and I figured it got cancelled since I heard nothing about the show all year- to my surprise there was a new episode on Hulu when I woke up today- thanks Hulu!   Haven't watched it yet but hopefully this season is just as good as the first one.

Smoking Baby Video

Watch CBS News Videos Online
I am speechless.   Aside from disturbing part- the 2 year old chain smoking better than most adults ever could- anyone else get nervous when they showed the parents riding the moped (1 min) with the kid standing on his mother's lap?   Yeesh.   How about the baby lying in an older girls lap smoking up at her at 1:31?   He lloks like a 40 year old little person- do you even realize he has never said a word- he can't speak because he's a BABY!

Itchy Itchy Scratchy Scratchy

I am getting seriously itchy just typing this - but if you think it's uncommon you obviously either are immune to the critters or are completely delusional.   NYC is a dirty place- millions of people commute in and out daily, not to mention it's something like 4 people for every square foot (Not a factual number, just a guesstimate representing the ridiculously crowdedness of the city).   It's no wonder stores get infested- it probably happens much more often than we hear about it, after all- you can spread/catch bedbugs just from riding the subway!(note to self- delouse IMMEDIATELY every time after returning from the city!)

Abercrombie & Itch: South Street Store Closes Over Bedbugs
updated 7/3/2010 1:45:43 PM
Bloodsuckers are in style these days.   Bedbugs forced Abercrombie & Fitch to shut down its South Street Seaport store indefinitely yesterday, just days after the bloodsuckers closed down the parent company's flagship Hollister store in Manhattan for two days.   A spokesman for the trendy clothing company told the Daily News the store's doors at South Street Seaport would stay shut until the infestation was handled, but it wasn't immediately clear how long it would take to get the situation under control.   Some patrons were miffed they couldn't buy their last-minute beachwear in time for July 4 festivities. One customer pledged not to buy Abercrombie any more because she felt itchy just thinking about the clothes, according to the News.
The city's Department of Health said bedbugs "do not present a health risk or spread disease." Officials said infestations in commercial buildings are handled privately and do not need to be reported to the city.    Still, Abercrombie let the city know its gripes after yesterday's closure. In an open letter to Mayor MichaelBloomberg, the company wrote, "We think it is a serious subject and look to you for leadership and guidance on how to best respond to this problem."   The city's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene said it has and continues to offer guidance, but it's ultimately the company's itch to relieve.   "It is the responsibility of companies to proactively treat bedbug problems on their own," the agency told the News.
The SoHo store, which said it had to close because bedbugs were "affecting certain isolated areas of the store," said it was taking steps to eradicate the bugs as quickly as possible. It reopened Saturday.

Don't Kiss the World Cup...

Yikes!   Can you imagine what whoever made this intended to do with it?   My imagination is spinning- maybe someone on one of the teams special ordered it to have at their after-party celebrating their win..kinda memorable to produce a sniffable World Cup at a celebratory party!   Be a night no one would forget :)   Yeesh, betcha it could have ended up on Ebay!   Also, did the artist who rendered this have to try a few times to get it right?   I would hazard a guess that whoever made it would be, ah, familiar with the product, and working with it to make a statue would probably give you a contact buzz of some sort...right?

Colombia cops find World Cup made of cocaine

14-inch-high statue found at airport, inside box headed for Spain

updated 2 hours, 57 minutes ago
BOGOTA, Colombia - Fans worldwide have fashioned replicas of the World Cup trophy out of everything from papier-mache to plastic. But a lawbreaker in Colombia gets top prize for most original material: cocaine.
Airports anti-drug chief Col. Jose Piedrahita says that Colombian authorities found the unusual statue during a routine security check by anti-drug agents Friday in a mail warehouse at Bogota's international airport.
The 14-inch-high statue was inside a box headed for Madrid, Spain. The statue was painted gold with green stripes on the base.
Piedrahita said Saturday that laboratory tests confirmed the cup was made of 24 pounds of cocaine mixed with acetone or gasoline to make it moldable.

Fireworks are dangerous...

You know the saying 'It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye'?   Or something like that?   For some reason even though everyone KNOWS that this happens EVERY year, without fail every 4th of July there is a story in the news about someone getting hurt lighting fireworks.   Every year they caution people not to light them unless they know what they are doing, not to allow children to play with them...not to even attempt to light them if inebriated.

So here you are- your annual 'STOP LIGHTING FIREWORKS YOU MORON' story:

updated 7/3/2010 8:25:59 PM
ISLIP TERRACE, N.Y. — Police say a man lightingfireworks has blown off his arm at a party on New York's Long Island.   Suffolk County police say 36-year-old Eric Smith was using a 3-foot long metal tube to shoot mortars from the street near his Islip (EYE'-slip) Terrace home around 5:45 p.m. Saturday.   Police believe he leaned over the device to ignite it and didn't get out of the way before an explosive shot out of the launcher. His left arm was severed at the shoulder.   Smith was taken to Southside Hospital in serious condition while friends packed the lost limb in ice to try to save it. Police believe doctors will try to reattach his arm.   A hospital spokesman didn't immediately return a call.   Police say another person at the party also was taken to a hospital, but it's unclear why.

Hah!   I have been saying this for years!   A new study found that swimming in the ocean can actually make you sick.   Obviously, this was done before the major oil spill that will affect beaches and the ocean for many many years to come, but leaving out that major ecological disaster- there is simply too much dangerous toxicity in the ocean for me to ever want to willingly jump in.

Hey, summer beachgoers: You might think twice about packing those swim fins and snorkels.
A new study by Florida scientists trying to account for pollution suggests that staying out of the water might keep you healthier than going for a dip.
Even in waters with no known impurities, swimmers were more likely to get sick than sunbathers who stayed on the shore, said Jay M. Fleisher, an associate professor of public health at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale-Davie.
“We know that waters that have been contaminated with sewage will cause illness,” said Fleisher. “We wanted to see whether people were actually getting sick from a beach that had no pollution.”
The answer, it turned out, was yes. Fleisher and his crew sent 1,303 adults to Hobie Beach near Miami, a site known for its pristine waters. Half were told to stay dry and other half were sent to swim.
Within a week, it was clear that going in the water took a toll on the bathers. Swimmers were 1.76 times as likely to report stomach troubles; 4.46 times times more likely to report illnesses with fevers, sniffles and sore throats; and 5.91 times more likely to report itching, rashes and other skin woes.
The culprit? Scientists aren’t certain, but they suspect enterococcus bacteria, nasty critters normally found in the feces of people and many animals. Health officials typically detect the bacteria in waters sullied by sewage spills, but they were surprised to find it – sometimes in high concentrations – in a beach area without known contamination.
The findings raise troubling questions about public beach water monitoring in the absence of known sewage spills and about whether – and when – it’s necessary to warn people about potential health problems. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is grappling with the question now, trying to decide whether there’s a better way to identify markers of risk, Fleisher said.
In the meantime, Fleisher notes that although swimmers were more likely to become ill than non-swimmers, the number of actual illnesses among people who went in the water was small.
Only about 1 in 100 people developed respiratory illness with fever, and only about 2 in 100 came down with gastrointestinal illness. About 6 in 100 developed skin ailments.
“The individual risk to the bather is fairly low,” Fleisher said. “But when you multiply that by the number of people who go on the beach, you could start having a public health problem.”
If Fleisher had his way, every beach would be posted with a stoplight-type sign that signals green, yellow or red conditions for healthy water quality.
Barring that, summer swimmers shouldn’t be afraid to go in the water, he said. But they might stay healthier if they stick to the shore.
Do you worry about swimming in public waters?

Ohhh So iPhone 4 isn't the problem...all the others are?

I get it- I think.   Today Apple said they were 'stunned' to find out that the new iPhone 4 had signal drops when held in the 'death grip' as the new issue is jokingly called.   Apparently when you hold your iPhone a certain way (the way most people do, by the way) you lose signal strength- dramatically.   According to Apple, it's not that you lose signal strength, it's that the BARS are the problem, not the signal.   Basically to keep it short and simple, they are saying the formula that iPhones use to calculate how many bars to display for signal strength is wrong, and that it has been showing 4-5 bars when reality is the signal is much lower.

So...in order to gain customers they tweaked the formula so people wouldn't catch on to how bad the reception would be until after they were locked into a contract with the one provider who sells service...I see.

Supposedly there will be a software update to fix this in the next few weeks, for all previous iPhones as well.   I believe I will wait a few weeks more before I actually upgrade the software- the last time I upgraded I lost 2 hours of my life and my calendar is still telling me things in duplicate two days early.   It is super frustrating that this great phone is being hawked as the greatest thing since sliced bread and instead of owning up to its issues Apple and At&t keep covering them up.   Just be honest and tell people the issues, there are enough loyal followers who will stay, or people like me who simply don't want to deal with the aggravation of learning a new phone.   Man up!

Remaking 'It'

As if I didn't lose enough sleep after I saw the (very awful) first one!   Stephen King's 'It' is getting remade into a new movie...there goes another ten years of peaceful sleep.   I read the book when I was 11 or 12, and basically had to sleep in the living room with every inch of me covered by a blanket for a year (if any part of yousticks out he can get in!).   It was made worse when I saw The Rocketeer and somehow the two goons who kill the guy in the casts in the hospital bed were scarier than Pennywise and a new terror manifested for me- couldn't touch the floor once it was dark (or they'd grab you) and there was always a risk the guy hiding under your bed would pierce you through the mattress with his sword.   When I later saw the movie version of 'It' I was already so traumatized that I didn't actually watch the whole thing until a few years ago.   And everyone wonders why I'm such an insomniac????

Here's what Perez posted- I don't know if I'd be able to watch a remake, the BOOK freaked me out as it was!

We can't imagine anything will terrify us as much as the original miniseries, but you never know!
Stephen King's classic book, It, has already been adapted for the small screen, and now it's getting the film treatment!
Warner Brothers has commissioned screenwriter David Kajganich to adapt the story into one film, and he recently discussed his process of translating such a detailed, long book into a single movie:
He reveals:
"In all of my talks with the studio, it has only ever been discussed as a single feature film. The book's length is clearly more suited to a mini-series and I understand very well why they went that route the last time around, but I think the book's content is really more appropriate for cinema. I told the studio from the beginning that I felt I needed to be able to write for an R rating, since I wanted to be as candid as the novel about the terrible things the characters go through as kids. They agreed and off I went. I think the biggest difference is that we're working with about two-thirds the onscreen time they had for the miniseries. That sounds dire, I know, but it doesn't necessarily mean two-thirds the amount of story. I'm finding as many ways as I can to make certain scenes redundant by deepening and doubling others. To me, this is an interesting process because it has the effect of thematically intensifying the whole, but it can lead to dramatic surprises. Certain scenes I thought would be crucial to the coherence of the whole ended up cut, while other scenes, which were somewhat cursory in the book, ended up being pivotal in the script."
We wonder if he's all talk, or he'll actually be able to make it work!
Either way, that awful Pennywise the Clown will surely scare us shitless once again! That monster is FUCKED.
What do U think?? Are U interested in another It movie??
