LP covers Gotye 'Somebody That I Used to Know' at Sayers Club 3.8.12

LP.   I don't know where to start so I will backtrack to last week when I randomly went to Sayers on a different night than usual and was treated to this incredible performance.   LP gets on the stage with her curly hair and mandolin and smiles out at the crowd.   She jokes, laughs and starts strumming away... and in a way that is reminiscent of Wayne Newton singing Danke Schein, she starts singing the Gotye song 'Somebody That I Used to Know'.   What does that mean?   Well there's a mandolin and it all seems very light and carefree- like diet pink ginger ale or something.   Then she gets to the chorus and defying the laws of gravity and nature, this epic huge voice bursts out of her and she just slays the song.   You know somebody has done something magical with a live performance when the ENTIRE room is involved, and that's what happened.   Every person was watching, swaying, mouthing the words, dancing, clapping... involved.   So that was last time, and I was so transfixed I actually could not tear myself away form it long enough to start recording!   She followed up with the most amazing rendition of 'Oh! Darling' pretty much ever, like I said... epic.

So, that brings me to last night.   LP gets on the stage and I see the mandolin, so I get ready for what's coming. And true to what I was sure would be happening anyway, LP proceeded to rock the house.   To paraphrase a friend of mine- She Lindsayed the hell out of it.   Way to go.

I wanted to add a bit about LP, so I grabbed this one video of her talking from youtube- she is just one of the most unique and interesting people I have seen in a while and it would be a shame not to share and spread her talent to more people- so watch and share people!
