Favorite New Shows of 2010 – 2011

I found a new blog I like and wanted to repost this one for you- check it out: www.tvrockstars.com

I want to first start off by saying that this is been a good year for new shows. Maybe I should say content wise but not ratings though. Look at LoneStar, it was absolutely amazing but yet nobody watch it. That’s probably why it should have been on a cable network like AMC. It would have definitely would have gone with Breaking Bad and Mad Men. Anyways, even if the ratings have been bad for a lot of the new shows, I can only hope the networks will change and try to let some of the shows build a audience over a couple of years (unlikely). Many of you may disagree with some of my choices, but that’s what the comments section is for.

Here are my favorite new shows of 2010 – 2011. These are in no specific order.

Harry’s Law

This show is absolutely phenomenal. Coming from the creators of Boston legal, you had to know that it was going to be serious and funny. It’s like the show The Defenders, but way funnier. The show is based around Kathy Bates’ character Harriet Korn who starts up her own law firm after being fired. Harriet goes about things differently than your “normal” lawyer. The ratings have been good, for NBC anyways. And it got a vote of confidence when they decided to keep it on Monday at 10 Eastern instead of replacing it with parenthood. This show has had mixed reviews but these days people do not know what good television (Dollhouse, FringeChuck, ect.) is. (And sexy Brittney Snow is a regular also)

Shameless
I was able to see this show early (thank you) and it was way better than my expectations. I was hearing that there was a whole lot of nudity and tons of sexual references. However, this is how poorer families are living these days. Yeah, some of the stuff is crazy but, that is exactly how life is these days. Shameless is based on a family (The Gallaghers) that is basically being raised by the oldest daughter Fiona (Emily Rossum) because the father Frank (William H. Macy) is a big-time drunk that spends his dead aunt’s Social Security check on alcohol. LoL

The Cape

The Cape is based on a comic book and theydid a really good job portraying it. However, it has got awful reviews and it is most likely because they do not understand graphic novels. The director and writers have really made the show feel like one. The reviewers were looking for something that felt real. The story line is constantly jumping from one thing to another just like the comic book. I guess this is just one thing comics lovers would appreciate (I do).
Honorable Mentions – Fairly Legal and Raising Hope
Awful Shows – Outsource, The Defenders, Off the Map, No Ordinary Family
There are many other shows that have been new but they were neither awful nor a honorable mention. What are your favorite new shows?
