Dakota Security Breach: Tourist Takes Elevator Joyride

thedakota_1_11.jpgJohn Lennon and Yoko Ono moved to the Upper West Side's Dakota from a Bank Street loft in 1973 because they wanted a place with better security. That wish continues to be ironic, because last week, Beatles fan Sungno Kim followed his guidebook to 1 West 72nd Street, snuck onto the service elevator, and took a trip to the roof. He hopped the passenger elevator back down, where he ran into Yoko Ono, the Post reports. Kim was arrested for trespassing and sentenced to six hours of community service, but the Dakota was still unable to hush up the incident. A building source tells the Post the managing agent may be fired over the security breach. The Upper East Side would never stand for this sort of thing.
