Glee - Theatricality and Funk (2 episodes)

Somehow I forgot to watch the Lady Gaga episode last week and then I realized it was already a week later and the new episode was out- so I just watched them both one after the other.   Oddly enjoyable to have two hours of Glee, but since the storyline jumps around so much it was hard to focus.

I have a lot of opinions but I think I will just say a few things and move on.

Theatricality-
Glad to finally get great singing from Idina, but it is obvious she won't be singing again for a while.   The costumes were funny (Kurt;s shoes!!!) and hilariously accurate.   I am glad Kurt and Finn worked it out in the end (who knew Cory Monteith could pull off a cherry red shower curtain?) but I found scene frustrating.   I know Kurt's dad stood up for him and I agree that the word should be dropped from PC dialect the same way the n word has been dropped, but hearing it said so many times left me unsettled.   I also liked the Kiss performance from the boys, it was fun to watch.

Funk-
I actually laughed a lot more during this episode (hello- pregnant funky singers and Quinn) but I am not a huge funk fan, so it was kind of eh.   Sad that Jesse egged Rachel but who didn't see the storyline arc where he goes back to his old team coming?   Mr Schu/Sue 'romance' was eerie and disturbing- why is he so creepy sometimes?   I found the scene in Sheet's n Things where they all sang 'Loser' HILARIOUS. Um and- Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch anyone- love it!

I want them to get back to awesome 80's rock though.   I listen to two podcasts about Glee - 'Gleeful, a glee podcast' (they really discuss the songs and play snippets which I enjoy) and 'Sara and Amy do Glee' and based on a lot of the things i hear them saying I think the writers are definitely listening to the fans comments (good and bad).   I have noticed a lot of little lines that allude to critiques I have heard people make about the show- like the oft discussed awkward dancing of Finn (I think Britney comments that she liked his dancing a few weeks ago) and how Rachel called Puck 'Puckleberry'.   I like that a lot, keep it up!
AND IF THEY ARE DOING THE GREATS I WANT A BRITNEY EPISODE AND A MICHAEL JACKSON EPISODE.   Ryan Murphy, get on it!
